Michele D. Alfano has worked for ValueOptions since 2000 and is the Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Alfano has responsibility for overseeing the Employer Solution Division and Health Plan Division.  Each division represents the major commercial lines of business serviced by ValueOptions.  In addition to the field offices, Ms Alfano is responsible for oversight of the following departments; medical/clinical management, claims, customer service, data management, network operations, IT and telecommunications, human resources, proposals, marketing and communications.  Further responsibilities include streamlining administrative services, sharing best practices and building a national network of service centers that interact with providers and members in a clinically sound manner while delivering quality service at an affordable price.

Ms. Alfano has over 25 years experience in health care including 20 years experience in both medical and behavioral managed care.  Past experience includes:  Vice President for The TriZetto Group where she oversaw HMO operations for health plans under management contracts with The TriZetto Group including claims, customer services, billing and accounts receivable, central support service and IS operations.  She led initiatives to move the HMOs to paperless claims and implemented state of the art technology to create a paperless work environment for claims and customer service.  She also served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Novalis Services Corporation and Novalis Development and Licensing (purchased by The TriZetto Group in 1999) for 10 years.  In that role she oversaw implementation of new accounts, account management, system programming for its managed care system, the provider credentialing software, and the NCQA certified CVO.  Additional responsibilities included oversight of consulting services for claims, customer service, network development, implementation, Help Desk and IT data services for the Novalis clients.  No stranger to ValueOptions, she was Regional Vice President of the Troy Service Center of the former Value Behavioral Health from 1992 through 1994.

Ms. Alfano is a Registered Professional Nurse and holds a Nursing Degree from Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital School of Nursing in Plattsburg, New York.
